Northwest Local School District Proudly Welcomes Cristen Casteel as the Principal of Colerain Middle School
Northwest Local School District is proud to announce Cristen Casteel as the new Principal of Colerain Middle School. Ms. Casteel is a proud alumna of Colerain High School (CHS), graduating in 2000. She began her teaching career in the Northwest Local School District (NWLSD) in 2004, starting at Colerain Middle School before moving to CHS. At the high school, she taught math to students in grades 9-12 and served as the Math Department Chairperson until 2017. Her leadership and dedication to her students were evident during these years, as she worked to foster a love of learning and a strong mathematical foundation among her students.
In 2017, Ms. Casteel transitioned to the role of Family Engagement Specialist and Social Worker for NWLSD, where she continued to support students and their families with empathy and expertise. Most recently, she served as an Administrator at Transitions Academy, the Secondary Alternative Program for district students in grades 6-12. Her work there further demonstrated her commitment to creating supportive and inclusive educational environments.
Ms. Casteel is passionate about ensuring all students are challenged and guided in a safe and inclusive educational environment so they may realize their full potential. Her extensive education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Grades Education from Northern Kentucky University, a Master of Arts in Adolescent Young Adult Education from the College of Mount Saint Joseph, a Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati. She is also a Licensed Social Worker, specializing in work with children, youth, and families.
A lifelong resident of Colerain Township, Ms. Casteel's roots in the community run deep. Her five children all attend NWLSD schools, further solidifying her personal and professional investment in the success of the district.
