Northwest Local School District is proud to welcomes Katie Fleming as a Supervisor of Special Education. Mrs. Katie Fleming joins the NWLSD family with 14 years of experience in special education. Before moving into educational leadership, Mrs. Fleming served as an Intervention Specialist at Mt. Healthy High School for 6 years, focusing on improving students' literacy skills. Additionally, Mrs. Fleming served as Transition Coordinator for Mt. Healthy Jr./Sr. High School for 5 years, supporting students, families, and teams through the transition planning process. For the past three years, Mrs. Fleming has served as a Supervisor/Consultant for Intervention and Support Services at Hamilton County ESC. In this role, she supported the Pathways to Employment (transition) Program, led initiatives in transition services, ensured IEP compliance, and fostered collaborative efforts with district and state partners to elevate the quality of transition services across the region. She is passionate about supporting students and families as they prepare for their future beyond graduation.

Academically, Mrs. Fleming holds a Bachelor of Science in Education (2010), a Master’s in Educational Leadership (2021), and a graduate certificate in Special Education Leadership (2021) from the University of Cincinnati.

Outside of work, Mrs. Fleming enjoys spending quality time with her husband and four children. She supports them in their school activities and athletic endeavors, frequently visiting their favorite local destinations (zoo, parks, Kings Island), and enjoys family movie nights.

“We are thrilled Mrs. Fleming has joined our Northwest Local School District family,” said Chevonne Neal, Director of Special Education. “She brings a breadth of experience that will be essential in helping us meet the needs of our special education students and their families.”

Mrs. Fleming will step into her new role on August 1, 2024.
