NWLSD Superintendent
Office of the Superintendent
Welcome to the Northwest Local School District, where we go beyond to educate tomorrow’s leaders. #NWLSDgobeyond This year, we developed a Strategic Plan alongside our stakeholders that identifies five pillars for success: Student Achievement, Social and Emotional Development, Diversity and Equity, Financial Stability, and Culture of Trust. This plan is the foundation of how our district will grow and operate in the years to come. It is the Vision for our tomorrow. Every person plays an important part in creating a learning environment where our students are able to conceptualize their future and our staff is able to equip them with the tools they need to turn their dreams into realities.
We are a proud district with a strong legacy and family oriented traditions. We are surrounded by students, staff, community and other stakeholders who support our students and their achievements.
Northwest Local School District consists of eleven schools: Northwest High School, Colerain High School, Colerain Middle, Pleasant Run Middle, White Oak Middle, Pleasant Run Elementary, Colerain Elementary, Monfort Heights Elementary, Struble Elementary, Taylor Elementary and our Houston Early Learning Center. Our District covers 56 square miles over Colerain, Green and Springfield Townships.
We offer a variety of extracurricular activities. Our two high schools are members of the Greater Miami Conference (GMC) and the Southwest Ohio Athletic Conference (SWOC). We offer a variety of sports for students to take part in grades 7-12. Our Fine Arts program is outstanding and our students often produce superior scores. Our music program begins at the elementary level and feeds into our middle schools and high schools. Some examples include Jazz Band, Performance Band, Show Choir and Marching Band. School plays, both drama and musicals, are produced at both high schools. We offer several art programs including Advanced Placement Art at the high school level.
Our District produces students who attain full academic scholarships to prestigious universities, athletic scholarships, and students that graduate with specialized technical training from our Career Technical Education Center, Butler Tech.
Our programs continue to prepare our students for the world of work in specialized areas. Many of our Butler Tech programs allow students to earn college credits while in their high school career technology program. Our partnership with Butler Tech allows our high school sophomores the opportunity to be considered for one of many programs that provide a career pathway upon graduation. Many of our career technical programs provide students the ability to earn college credit and work experience prior to high school graduation. As a District we are committed to preparing students for their next steps in life. Through our partnership with Butler Tech, we are preparing students to enter the workforce all while earning significant salaries with the option to continue their college education. In addition to the career technical programs, our high school students have the opportunity to take elective courses in marketing, finance, college readiness and technology. Many of the courses offered allow students to gain knowledge and experience in a field they may choose in their future.
