An Important Message Regarding School Safety

This evening, several school districts across Greater Cincinnati, including Northwest Local Schools (NWLSD), were named in a social media post that indicated the possibility of a school shooting. Parents and students within our district have shared the communication with our District Administration. 

Ohio Law enforcement agencies, as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation are actively investigating and monitoring the situation. 

NWLSD places the highest importance in maintaining the safety of our school community. Our Administration is working very closely with the Colerain Police Department to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

At this time, we plan to have school tomorrow for all schools as scheduled. Our staff as well as our school resource officers will be vigilant in following our safety protocols to create a safe school environment. There will also be additional security present at some locations.

As always, we encourage students to See Something, Say Something, and to always report any and all suspicious, concerning behaviors and happenings to an adult. Our school administrators are available if you or your child have concerns or need support. Thank you for your continued support in providing a safe learning environment for our students. We want to extend our thanks and appreciation to the students, family, and staff who shared information this evening.

As always, the health and safety of our students and staff remain our top priority.

P.S. - Police are asking that community members not re-share the social media message online, as it makes it difficult for them to identify the responsible party. Instead, they are asking community members to report the post when you see it.
